A Froggie Adventure Lost In The Fog
|

Deep in the marshlands of the misty old bog
way up in the sky flying in and out of the fog
are a young egret, a mouse, and a frog named Froggie
having a great time and as happy can be.
It's something you don't expect to see everyday.
Three great friends having fun in this way.
But this is a trio with a very special bond.
They've grown up together in and about the pond.
Today they're making their very first flight,
swooshing and diving and giving Molly a fright.
Froggie's hands are raised way up in the air.
"Open your eyes, Molly. Don't be so scared." said Froggie
"I'm not used to all this flying around.
Maybe we should go back down to the ground." replied Molly
"Don't be silly. We've only just begun." said Froggie
"Come on, Lanky, let's really have some fun."
"Maybe we should just fly around for a while."
Lanky said as he turned and gave Molly a smile.
"From way up here there's so much you can see.
There's Froggie's hollow log and Molly's willow tree." said Lanky
"Everything down there looks so tiny and small.
I feel like we're a hundred feet tall." said Froggie
"We can see the whole bog when we're up this high.
We should make us a map of all the places we fly." said Molly
"That's a great idea and we'll give them all names." said Lanky
"We can take turns and make it a game." said Froggie
So they flew all around giving names to the bog
having so much fun they didn't see the incoming fog.
The fog rolled in fast and came in so thick
they had to do something and they had to do it quick.
Froggie couldn't see his hands in front of his face.
"We need to find a good landing place." said Froggie
They looked and looked but they were flying blind.
It seemed like a good spot would be impossible to find.
Then out of the blue, a hole in the fog opened at last
"Look! Down there! A patch of green grass!" shouted Molly
Lanky turned around and headed that way.
"Hold on you guys. You might want to pray." said Lanky
Froggie and Molly held tight to Lanky's feathers.
"You can do it, Lanky. We're in this together." said Froggie
Molly closed her eyes and said a little prayer.
"Please, God help us to land safely down there." prayed Molly
"We're going down now. Everybody get ready."
Lanky said as tried to fly steady.
Everything got quiet as Lanky began to glide.
He stretched out his legs and started to stride.
One foot then two, they touched to the ground.
Then they landed light as a feather without making a sound.
Molly opened her eyes and said, "That was outstanding!"
"You did it, Lanky! That was an awesome landing." said Froggie
"Thank you my friends but does anyone know where we are?
We flew a long time but I don't know how far." asked Lanky
"I can't see anything. The fog is too thick." said Froggie
"I have an idea." said Molly, "Hand me a stick."
Molly took the stick and drew a map in the sand.
"Here's where we started. Now where did we land?" asked Molly
They named off all the places where they knew they had been.
Turtle Bay, Deer Meadow, Eagle Island, and Fox Glen,
the Golden Moss Forest, the Swallow Cliffs, and Mercy Springs,
Coyote Creek, the Old Oak, and a lot of other things.
They had flown all around, north, south, east, and west
but where they were now was anyone's guess.
They were lost in the fog not knowing how to get out.
"We should all call for help. We all have to shout." said Molly
So each of them yelled hoping someone would hear their cries.
Then Froggie said, "Wait! Do you smell that? It smells like stewed flies."
Froggie turned toward the smell and looked through the fog.
"I think that's my hollowed out log." exclaimed Froggie
Molly looked too and saw her home in the willow tree.
Then she jumped up and down and shouted, "Whoopee!"
"We were never really lost. We just didn't know where we were." said Froggie
"It's a good thing your mom was cooking dinner." said Lanky
All I know is it's good to be home.
I didn't like being lost and out there all alone." said Molly
"I know what you mean. Being lost is not much fun.
I for one am glad this day is done." said Lanky
"But there is one thing we learned here today.
We need a good map to show us the way." said Froggie
"My dad must have one I'm sure we can borrow.
I'll get it tonight and we can use it tomorrow." said Lanky
"We'll have to study and get to know it for sure
so we won't get lost on our next adventure." said Molly
With that they agreed and they made a firm pact
that together they would learn the bog forwards and back.
Tomorrow soon came and they set off again
and many wonderful adventures have followed since then.
So if you look up in the sky, flying high you might see,
a young egret, a mouse, and a frog named Froggie.
