A Froggie Adventure Hide and Go Seek
|
Silly Songs
Deep in the marshlands of the misty old bog,
just past the willow by the hollowed out log,
the gang is having fun playing hide and go seek.
Froggie’s counting down backwards, trying not to peek.
Lanky, Molly, and Froggett are all searching for a good hiding place.
The toadstool by the log is to be the home base.
As Froggie finished counting three, two, then one,
he shouted out loud, “Look out everybody ‘cause here I come!”
Froggie found Lanky first, hiding behind a small tree.
Next he found Molly, now where could Froggett be?
They looked here and there and in all of her favorite spots.
Where could she be hiding? Where is that tiny tot? asked Lanky
“OK, Froggett. We’ve looked all over the bog.
Ollie ollie in-come-free. Now come back to the log.” shouted Froggie
“Come on out from your hiding place and come on in.
You’re the best hider, so this time you win.” said Molly
Hearing those words, Froggett hopped up onto the toadstool with a grin,
did a little dance and sang, “Me win! Me win! Me win!”
“You can’t hide at home base behind the toadstool.” demanded Froggie
“Why not?” asked Froggett “Because it’s a rule.” explained Froggie
“You just made that up. Me gonna tell Mom.” complained Froggett
“You don’t have to do that. Just remember from now on.” said Molly
“So me still win the hide and seek game?” asked Froggett
“This time anyway. Now get ready to play again.” said Froggie
“Me ready. Me ready. Me hide real good this time.” said Froggett
“You better of you’ll be the first one I find.” said Lanky
“Now you guys go hide. It’s my turn to do the seeking.”
“Close your eyes tight and don’t do any peeking.” instructed Froggie
So Lanky tucked his head well under his wing
and from a hundred on down he started his counting.
Everyone else scattered around the bog far and wide
trying to find the very best place to hide.
Froggett tried to hide behind a rock, then under a stick.
Lanky was almost finished counting. She had to find some place quick.
But every place she hid it was plain for Froggett to see,
“If me hide there, Lanky will surely first find me.”
Then Froggett saw a small hole in the ground.
“If me hide in there, me never be found”
So she hopped into the hole without thinking twice.
“This is the bestest hiding place. Me think this is nice.”
Just then Froggett felt something underneath her move around
and she heard a slow and faint muffled sound.
“Please don’t eat me.” she heard the voice say
“Me not eat you. Me just in here to play.” said Froggett
“That’s good to know. I like to play, too.” slowly the muffled voice said
“Now, if it’s not too much trouble, could you please get off my head?”
Froggett hopped back and said, “Me apologize.”
as she saw a baby turtle of very small size.
The little turtle pulled her head back into her shell
then she pulled in her arms and her legs in as well.
“Hello, little turtle. You have nothing to fear.
My name is Froggett and it’s just me and you here.”
“My name is Cootie and I’m sorry I’m so scared
but outside of my shell everything’s scary out there.” said Cootie
“You no need to be afraid of me.
Me be your friend. Poke out your head and you see.” said Froggett
Cootie slowly opened her shell and peeked outside.
“Come on out. There’s no reason from me to hide.” said Froggett
“Hey! You’re little like me. You don’t look so scary.”
said Cootie as she came out of her shell a little less weary.
“What are you doing down here in my hole?
Are you hiding too from the misty old bog troll?” asked Cootie
“Misty old bog troll? Me never heard of that before.
What do me have to be scared of him for?” asked Froggett
“Cause he’s a big smelly monster with really long claws.
glowing green eyes and razor sharp teeth in his jaws.
He lives somewhere in the bog hidden in a deep dark cave
and he only comes out when fresh meat he craves.
My brother told me that little turtles are his favorite dish
next to frogs and mice and sometimes a fish.” explained Cootie
“Hey! Wait a minute. A frog’s what me be.
You don’t think he would want to eat me?” asked Froggett a little scared
“Uh huh! I’m sure he would if given the chance.
He’d gobble you up and then do a little troll dance.” answered Cootie
“Now me scared too after hearing what you say.
Maybe me just stay here and hide with you, if that’s OK?” asked Froggett
“That would be great. I could sure use a friend.
Someone to stick with me up till the very end.” said Cootie
So Froggett and Cootie shook hands and made a pinkie swear,
“Best friends forever and together we face the scaries out there.”
Just then a big yellow stick poked into the hole.
Froggett and Cootie both shouted out, “TROLL!”
Scared and shaking, they hugged and held tight to each other.
“Are you in there, Froggett?” “Hey, it’s just my big brother.” said Froggett to
Cootie
“We finally found you. You really hid well this time
You nearly had us going out of our minds.” said Froggie
“Me sorry. Me forgot all about the hide and go seek game,
but me met my new bestest friend. Cootie’s her name.” said Froggett
Cootie tugged onto Froggett and asked,
“Are you sure they’re not misty bog trolls dressed up in disguise?
Take a closer look. You can tell by the color of their eyes.”
“No, it’s just my brother, Lanky, and Molly.” said Froggett
“Next time you have to come in when you hear us call Ollie.” said Froggie
“Grab hold of my beak and I’ll lift you out of that hole
and what’s all this talk about a misty old bog troll?” asked Lanky
“Just another game me and Cootie were playing.” said Froggett
“Yep, just a game like Froggett is saying.” said Cootie agreeing with a nod
“We still have time for one more hide and go seek game
and don’t forget to come in when we call out your name.” said Froggie
“Okee doke. Come on, Cootie. We hide together.
They never find us. We much too clever.” said Froggett
So Molly started counting and a new game began
“We must find a good hiding place as quick as we can.” said Froggett
Cootie said to Froggett, “There’s something you should know.
I am a turtle and I do everything slow.”
“That’s OK.” Froggett said as she gave Cootie a grin
“Me just glad me have a new bestest friend.”
Cootie smiled big and pulled way back into her shell
“If we squeeze real tight, maybe you can hide in here as well.”
“That sounds like fun. Do you really think I can fit?” asked Froggett
“I’m sure you can if I can just move over a bit.” answered Cootie
The two girls giggled as Froggett squirmed her way in
excited about their new friendship about to begin.
And this time they were the first to be found
because they were giggling so much and hid out on open ground,
but they didn’t seem to mind or hardly even care
for they are best friends forever and together they face the scaries out there.
