Terri Schindler Schiavo
Memorial Sculpture
"Compassion"
This sculpture was created for those who
know Terri's story and understand the horrific
injustice that was carried out disguised as an
act of humanity.  The piece is entitled
"Compassion" which is presented to Terri in
her last moments.  The angel is comforting
and shielding Terri with one wing as she
motions heavenward with the other in
anticipation of the final outcome.  Terri is
clutching to the angels robe in awe.

The four cherubs around the base are each
facing away from Terri toward the four
corners of the earth for they are charged with
the judgement on humanity for allowing such a
travesty to happen.  One cherub is weeping,
one praying, one can not bear to watch, and
the other is seemingly indifferent to it all.

Original Wax Sculpture In Progress
These pics should give you and idea
of the scale of the maquette.
Sculpted by Ron Berry
The maquette as is shown here is 12" X 8" at the base and is
14" to the tip of the wing.  As a limited edition, the bottom
portion of the base would be black marble which the cherubs
would sit upon.  The upper portion which would include the bed,
Terri and the Angel would be cast in bronze with a traditional art
brown patina.
The life size sculpture would stand close to ten feet including
the lower base which would be constructed by a mason with the
possibility of having plaques placed around it honoring those
who contributed.

Once the okay is given and the sculpting begins, the full size
piece will take approximately 8-10 months to complete.   I will
document the entire process for you as it progresses and you
will be more than welcome to visit at any time to view the
sculpture as it is created.  Arrangements will then be made for
the cross country journey and subsequent placement of the
piece at your chosen site.  The mason by this time will have to
have completed the lower base as to the specifications which
we will send including the drilling of anchor holes.   A small
crane or forklift will be needed to set the sculpture is place.
Then after some final touch ups, we will be ready for the
unveiling.

I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this wonderfully powerful
piece and I hope you like what you are seeing.  I believe
"Compassion" is something that needs to be shown to the
world.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of
this great endeavor.
